Search functions

You can search for one or more citations (i.e. HG 1.1.1 or HG 1.1.1-3) or for words. When searching for words citations are found that contain all the words in the search box. It doesn't matter if a search word matches only part of a word in the citation. The search is not case-sensitive. It is not possible to search for just one letter. It is possible to limit the search to one book only.

The search for words may be regulated with operators.

Note: Using operators doesn't allow words shorter than four letters for searching.

+A leading plus sign indicates that this word must be present in each citation that is returned.
-A leading minus sign indicates that this word must not be present in any of the citations that are returned.
*The asterisk serves as the truncation (or wildcard) operator. Unlike the other operators, it should be appended to the word to be affected. Words match if they begin with the word preceding the * operator.
"A phrase that is enclosed within double quote characters matches only citations that contain the phrase literally, as it was typed. Nonword characters need not be matched exactly: Phrase searching requires only that matches contain exactly the same words as the phrase and in the same order. For example, "test phrase" matches "test, phrase".
%Returns all citations, were one of the (whole!) words are found.

Examples

+jakob -lorberFind citations that contain the word "jakob" but not "lorber".
apple*Find citations that contain words such as "apple", "apples", "applesauce", or "applet".
"and now for"Find citations that contain the exact phrase "and now for" (for example, citations that contain "and now for something" but not "and nowadays for").
%love devotionFind citations that contain either "love" or "devotion" (as whole words).

Link to a search or citation

It is possible to operate the search functions per URL. Just search for the desired result and copy the URL. You also can construct the URL yourself. If you want to search for "The Household of God 1.1.1" (abbreviation: HG) add to the Domain /index.php?s=HG1.1.1 To select a certain language attach &l= and the language code, for example &l=de for German or &l=en for English.
