The Twelve Hours

Once the soul has become too angry, it immediately detaches itself from it's covering in union with the spirit, and thereafter the tyrant may pinch, scourge, burn, drag, and in short, do whatever other cruel things he pleases with the body, it is not much different than if one of you would do such things to his stripped garment; for the body is only capable of pain as long as the soul remains in it. – The Twelve Hours, Chapter 8, Paragraph 47
